Reading webstats in Lunarpages

Lunarpages doesn’t offer much in web statistic reporting. You’ll get your website stats reported via Webalizer and Analog, but not Awstats.

Fortunately, you can have the raw access log downloaded in Lunarpages.

This granted full control on your website statistics, where you can run the numbers via a third party or in-house developed reporting system freely.

How to read webstats in Lunarpages

Login to Lunarpages cPanel, scroll down and look for the “Webstats” icon.

Clicking on the Webstats icon will lead you to a list of web stats reporting system, including Webalizer and Analog.

Click into each reports to view related web stats. For example, here’s how Webalizer looks like for one of my website hosted on Lunarpages. Web statistics figures, like hits, pageviews, visits, file sizes loaded, are shown in both numbers and graphical bars/lines based on various time frame (monthly, weekly, daily).

On the other hand, Analog looks much boring with only words and numbers.

Bandwidth stats

Also, Lunarpages offers stats reporting known as “Bandwidth”. The Bandwidth report will shows how many bytes your Lunarpages account has transferred. Frankly I think the Bandwidth report isn’t that important unless you are finishing up all your given bandwidth quota (which is 15,000GB). Here’s how the Bandwidth report looks like.

Webalizer and Analog isn’t enough! What can I do?

To understand and to analze your website usage trends, Webalizer and Analog is NOT enough at all. Personally, I don’t use Webalizer nor Analog, and I’m too lazy to build my own stats reporting system. I used to skim thru Awstats daily to briefly learn about my web statistics but hey, that’s back in year 2000 and I don’t find data with Awstats accurate.

The solution with web stats reporting at Lunarpages is Google Analytics.

Ever since Google Analytics is introduced, I had switched using Google Analytics for all my websites. After all, what Analytics provide is advance, useful, complete, and best of all, totally free.

Installing Google Analytics is rather simple too. Simply login Analytics with your Google account, copy and paste the java script given on your webpages, and you’ll get the reports ready by the next 24 hours.

Simple.

So that’s all about web stats reporting at Lunarpages. Basically with Google Analytics, you don’t need to worry much about web stats reporting with most hosting companies. Your web statistics are within clicks away as long as you have full control on the raw access log (for in house reporting system) and you can install Analytics code into your website.
